Celebrating 20 years of verbal mastery and artistic excellence, Iron Mic Coalition is an underground Hip Hop collective based in Memphis, Tennessee. The group was formed officially on February 13th, 2004, in the spirit of collective creativity and communal collaboration. The members, each distinctive and highly original, include Fathom 9, Jason“Da Hater” Harris, Yasin Allah aka Mmilk, Mighty Quinn, Duke, General Macarthur, The Derelick, Empee, DJ Capital A, and DJ Shamrock.

Known throughout underground Hip Hop circles by the moniker IMC, the group is appreciated for its underground Boom Bap music reminiscent of Golden Era Hip Hop and conscious rap music. Since 2004, Iron Mic Coalition has released a plethora of music including mixtapes, solo LPs, and its signature Edition series.

  • They have performed not only in Memphis but around the country, sharing stages with underground and mainstream artists including KRS-One, Boot Camp Click, and Memphis rap legend Tommy Wright III.IMC’s work has been featured in a number of platforms, including the Stax Museum of American Soul Music, Carnegie Hall’s “The Creator Has a Master Plan” Afro-futurist Cypher podcast, in Obsidian, and inRed Spring: Curating the End of the World on Google Arts and Culture’s online museum. The fathers of the Memphop movement, IronMic Coalition is an underground favorite and has gone on to influence an entirely new generation of ingenious Memphis Hip Hop artists whose impact continues to shape the musical world.
