Dead soldiers are an 8 piece band from Memphis, Tn whose eclectic compositions feature a rock and roll core that lift 5 part vocal harmonies, horns and strings to create a wall of sound. Building on the musical traditions of the delta, and melting pot aesthetic that first made Memphis the home of rock and roll, their music is at once irreverent and uniquely American. While firmly rooted in the modern urban south, they draw heavily from artists ranging from Tom Waits to the Band, John Prine, Frank Zappa, Bob Dylan and Randy Newman. All artists who refuse to be easily classified. With humor, cynicism and an underlying foundation of humanity their songs root for the underdog while skewering the hypocrisy of our post modern media landscape.
